Why you should wear sunscreen everyday

Most people are still not very clear about the implications of not using sunscreen every day. Some people believe that they should be wearing sunscreen only when it is sunny outside; others despite knowing they should be wearing sunscreen every day still choose not to wear it. These people are doing nothing but putting their skin at risk. One should know it very clear that it is not the sun rays that cause the damage but the UVA and UVB radiations that cause the damage.

Even if it is a cloudy day, the UV radiations are still present. The application of sunscreen would prevent the chances of skin damage caused by these radiations. It is advisable to use sunscreen with SPF above 30. Such sunscreens are broad-spectrum sunscreens and do a better job of protecting the skin from damage. Sunscreen should be applied to every part of the body that will get exposed to the sun.

Years of sun damage and excessive exposure to the sun can lead to premature aging. Wearing sunscreen is important for every skin type. People with a fair skin complexion have higher chances of developing skin cancer due to unprotected sun exposure, but it is not that people with darker skin complexion are safe. They rather are, at risk of developing more severe kinds of skin cancers.  Sunburn is rather not caused by the sunlight but it is a radiation burn. It penetrates deep into the skin and can cause damage to the skin cells and might even kill them. The most severe kind of skin cancer is Melanoma. Melanoma damages the cells that produce melanin. Melanin protects the skin from sun damage. Melanoma can occur in any part of the body that has been exposed to the sun.

It is also advisable to follow certain tips that would prevent the skin from sun damage. These are as follows:

1. One should wear protective clothing and accessories along with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

2. It is advisable to avoid going out in the sun between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm because the radiations are strongest at that time. It would help prevent maximum damage.

3. One should self-examine their skin and notice any sudden changes such as freckles, moles, or marks so that proper medical actions can be taken without any delay.

Sunscreen should be used every time, no matter if it is a sunny day or a cloudy day.  Protecting your skin from harmful UVA and UVB radiations is of utmost importance and should be a priority for everyone.
